Construct a case for your new iPhone 4 using only the following materials:

– A sheet of heavy weight paper such as a card stock (regular printer paper works too, but the case won’t last as long)
– An exacto knife
– A ruler or straight edge, used for guiding the exacto knife
– Something to score the paper before folding, can be a butter knife, toothpick, metal key, etc
– Adhesive. I used glue-tape, but any adhesive suitable for paper will work. Be sure not to leave any glued areas exposed as this would result in glue marks on your iPhone.

Step 1: Download and print the template

You can add custom graphics by editing the template in Photoshop or Illustrator.

Step 2: Cut the outline of the case. Do not cut anything other than the outline.

Use the ruler or straight edge to guide the exacto blade. I guess scissors would work too, but it wouldn’t be as efficient or precise.

Step 3: Score the fold lines and make the creases.

Use the ruler or straight edge to guide your scoring tool. When done scoring, make the creases. If this is not done before cutting the inside lines you will have a distorted case.

Step 4: Cut out the inside lines. It is important to do this step after making the creases.

Use the ruler or straight edge to guide the exacto blade, being careful not to slice too far. Scissors would be near impossible to use for this.

Step 5: Fold and glue the top and side flaps, leaving the bottom flap open.

I find it easier to glue the large side flap first then glue the top. I apply glue to the flap then carefully line up the edges before pressing down. Remember not to glue the bottom flap.

Step 6: Insert the iPhone 4 and close the bottom flap.

Insert the iPhone into the case with the headphones jack edge first. You may have to bend the side with the volume buttons a little to get the case to slide in completely. I recommend not gluing the bottom flap so you can remove the case without having to destroy it. Also, gluing the bottom flap could leave adhesive on your iPhone when trying to insert the last tab.

At this point your case is complete and your iPhone is installed! Congratulations. Here is another image of the final product.

March 9th’s Tuesdays @ Tuesday was a particularly playful Happy Hour. There was the usual arsenal of epic rock stars fueled by tacos, guacamole, beer and margaritas.  Just about everyone jammed on our “stage” to their favorite Rock Band jams in the midst of a mysterious layer of fog. In addition, we had a truly heroic photobooth. We toyed with everyone, turning them into an Office Warrior or Party Princess in an instant.  Check out the photo galleries and thanks to everyone who joined in!

The art of wielding sharp objects while drinking alcoholic beverages is a time honored tradition at Tuesday.  Every year at Halloween,  we hit the local grocery for a few dozen pumpkins, stock the Tuesday bar, and meet up in the kitchen for some good, old fashioned, get your hands dirty fun!But this wasn’t “throw caution into the wind” fun, we had plans. Blueprints for carving success.  I don’t think anyone came into the kitchen without a sketch, picture, or elaborate template downloaded off the internet.  We were ready for these pumpkins and it shows!  Even with the grueling task of taking out the seedy guts, and the occasional broken knife and sore hand, we had a great time stabbing, hacking, slashing, and dissecting the pumpkins until they took on a variety of different looks. From creepy crawlers to clever puzzles to Japanese TV station mascots, in the end, there was a smashing display of pumpkins!

Tuesday’s Social Event opened the current exhibit, Favorites. The set of images above represent the 34 photos that were selected form the 100+ that were submitted.  The collection represents our favorite things – items or places that we love. 

The photos are displayed as part of aa back-lit photographic installation that is a permanent fixture at Tuesday, with new and regular updates of imagery set for the future.  To achieve the back-lit aesthetic we were looking for the images were printed on semi-transparent paper, mounted onto plexiglass. The glass was then placed onto custom made wooden box frames which housed compact fluorescent bulbs. The boxes were arranged in tight clusters across three walls in the lobby of Tuesday Creative. The illumination from the back lighting pulls out the highlights and rich colors featured in the photos, making for a spectacular presence when you enter the lobby.

Tuesday’s business cards were developed to go beyond being a mere medium for transferring contact information or subtle hints at our company’s identity. Instead, we wanted our cards to serve as an ice-breaker that would inject some levity into our introductions and make a memorable first impression. What’s more, we believe one of our major strengths is the personal attention and strong relationships we build with our clients — so what better way to help get to know us than by putting a face to the name on the card?

Each card is a unique, hand-tooled illustration that endeavors to reflect some of the character of the employee. With each new hire, our in-house photographer, Patrick Shipstad stages a photo shoot which provides the source material for the illustrations ( the rest of the photos are archived and may come back to haunt us at any time). Then I create the drawing in Adobe Illustrator, adding whatever embellishments (e.g., an asteroid, DeLorean, or magical hamburger) help further illustrate the personality of each person. It was important that the renderings work for both humorous images as well as more straight-forward, traditional portraits. A key factor was that each employee must be comfortable handing his or her image over to a new contact. Stylistically, we wanted something crisp and clean that was created digitally to reflect our area of expertise. Generally the images are white with high key greys to provide contrast with the strong reds of the logo and the mirror image silhouette that contains the contact information on the reverse side.

The end result has been a fun conversation starter for those we meet as well as a cool introduction for new hires into the lighthearted side of Tuesday Creative.
